Hey there!
It is wonderful to meet you! Our names are Mary, Sarah, Nick and Sophie. We are undergraduate students at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), located in Worcester Massachusetts. We are all currently in our junior year of schooling, pursuing our bachelors degrees. Sophie is studying Robotics Engineering, Sarah and Nick are studying Mechanical Engineering, and Mary is studying Biomedical Engineering. Together, we are currently in the throws of completing our interactive qualifying project (IQP) at WPI.
The goal of our project is to address the food insecurity issues of Windhoek, Namibia with the use of aquaponic systems. We were supposed to travel to Namibia in order to directly work with the community and our wonderful sponsor organization: the Hanns Seidel Foundation, however with the trying times we are in, we had to restructure our project. We are still going to work with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, but now we will work remotely from the United States. We will still produce a project that gives back to the people of Namibia and helps them develop and alternative form for agriculture to aid in food security.

We created this platform in order to share all the wonderful information that we are learning and developing within our project. For our project, we will be creating infographics, videos, developing a prototype and a manual. All of this will be used by the Hanns Seidel Foundation in order to help the people of Namibia. Within this blog we will share the information that we develop along with helpful tips, tricks and even projects that you can do at home. In light of the virtual community that we are all becoming a part of, we hope to give you something fun to read and that potentially inspires you to take part in the community of sustainable living.

Without further ado, let's learn about aquaponics and why they are so amazing!
