In this post we will be showing you the first fact sheet that we constructed! The topic of this fact sheet is hydroponics. It is meant to explain what hydroponics are, some of the different qualities these systems can have and how they could help the Namibian agricultural system. On the second page we specifically highlight three very common hydroponic systems. We did this in order to show that there is not one set way to construct a hydroponic system. There are many different variations. It can depend on materials, climate, and even personal preference. The best part about hydroponics and aquaponics is that it can be as simple or complex as the farmer (or engineers) wants.
The information in this fact sheet was found by digging into published literature and guidance from our advisors. In total we went through three rounds of feedback from our advisors. The first round was mainly focused on narrowing down the content we provided in the infographic. The second round had a few citation comments along with edits in the way we portrayed information. The final, third round, was mainly formatting edits. In the end we were able to produce the fact sheet that can be seen below.
We hope that you enjoyed seeing our factsheet! If you want to see it a little clearer, here is the PDF version!
The blank square at the end of the factsheet is the location that we are going to put our project logo, once the Hanns Seidel Foundation has finalized it. The Think Namibia logo will also be updated once Hanns Seidel updates it. One fact sheet down, two to go! We hope you learned a little more about hydroponics and how successful they can be as an sustainable agricultural system!
